Why granite

Elevate Your Home with Stunning Granite Countertops!

Granite is a natural igneous rock, mostly quartz and feldspar, quarried in slabs, cut to your kitchen and polished to a mirror finish. It’s porous, so we seal it at install and you reseal it every year or three. In return you get a surface that takes hot pots straight off the stove and outlasts the cabinets under it!

We’re a Calgary granite fabricator, not a reseller: the slab you choose is the slab we cut, in our own shop at 1530 27 Ave NE, and install in your kitchen with our own crew. Granite supply, fabrication and installation: one quote, one company, no surprises!

Let us know if you’d like to see full slabs. A sample never shows you the movement!

Why Calgary homeowners keep choosing granite

Takes the heat

Hot pots straight off the stove, every day, without burns or damage. Granite was formed under heat, so yours won’t bother it!

Lasts the house

Fifty years is routine. Granite tops regularly outlive two sets of cabinets!

No two alike

Every slab is one of a kind from the quarry. Come see the real slab, not a sample from a catalogue!

Holds its value

Buyers still read “granite” as quality on a listing, and it never needs replacing before a sale.

  • – Ogee
  • – Waterfall ends

What granite costs in Calgary

$55–$110 per sq ft installed

A typical Calgary kitchen lands around $1,900–$6,600 installed: slab, template, fabrication, standard edge, cut-outs, delivery, install and sealing included. The colour group moves the number most; a level-1 black or grey sits at the bottom, an exotic at the top. Small vanities and bar tops are often cut from remnants for much less.

A few weeks ago we had AA Granite, Marble & Quartz install quartz countertops in our own home and in a rental property we own. Jet and his team were great to deal with and did a fantastic job. Pricing was very competitive and the quality …

In September 2020 we hired AA Granite to replace our countertops and backsplash with HanStone quartz. Jet listened carefully to our requirements and made sure we got what we were expecting, offering suggestions and options. His price was very competitive. Jet and his crew did a great job on the installation and the new countertops, vanities, and sinks look wonderful! Removal of the old granite proved to be a nightmare (due to the way they were originally installed) but Jet’s crew quietly persisted and got the old stuff out without damaging our cabinets – we had real fears about what would be left of them. As with many contractors, there were some scheduling issues that we had to work around but Jet did his best to work with us when bumps occurred. We would definitely recommend AA Granite to anyone looking for very good value and excellent workmanship.

We had AA Granite supply and install our quartz countertops. They were so fast on delivering our quote, coming in to do the site measure and the install. They did a phenomenal job and their price was lower than my other quotes. We would definitely recommend them. Thank you for our gorgeous countertops!

AA Granite, Marble & Quartz Ltd did an excellent job on my sister's kitchen. It looks stunning. The owner of this company is one of the nicest people to talk to and he'll spend lots of time reviewing the different types of stone with you. The workmanship on my sister's kitchen is excellent. We are definitely going to hire them when we get our kitchen redone in the near future.

Very reliable and professional company. They replaced my entire kitchen counter top and am very happy with the results. Everybody we dealt with were extremely accommodating especially Janelle and Jet. I have already recommended them to 3 people. Exceptional service!

Granite questions, answered

Frequently Asked Questions

The questions Calgary homeowners ask us about granite most, including the ones Google asks on their behalf.

How much do granite countertops cost in Calgary?

Most granite we install in Calgary comes in at $55–$110 per sq ft installed, so a typical 35–60 sq ft kitchen lands around $1,900–$6,600. Colour drives the price more than anything: a level-1 black or speckled grey sits at the low end, an exotic like Blue Bahia or Patagonia at the top.

Every quote is measured on site. See countertop prices in Calgary for what moves the number.

How much would 20 feet of granite countertop cost?

Twenty linear feet at the standard 25½-inch depth is about 43 square feet, which works out to roughly $2,300–$4,700 installed depending on the colour group and edge profile. In quartz the same run is about $3,000–$5,500. A sink and a cooktop cut-out put you in the upper half of the range.

Which is cheaper in Calgary, granite or quartz?

At the entry level, granite: a level-1 granite usually comes in $10–$20 per square foot under a comparable quartz. In the middle of the range the two overlap almost completely, and exotic granites cost more than most quartz.

Pick the colour you love first, then compare the two quotes. We price both from the same template.

Is granite outdated, or is it coming back in 2026?

Granite never left Calgary kitchens; the colours changed. The speckled browns and golds of the 2000s gave way to whites, greys and deep blacks with movement (Alaska White, Colonial White, Black Pearl, Super White Arabescato), and those are what we’re cutting most of this year.

A natural stone where no two slabs match doesn’t go out of style. The pattern you pick is what dates, so pick a quiet one if you plan to stay.

How long will my granite countertop last?

With proper sealing, a granite countertop easily outlasts the kitchen around it: 50 years is routine, 100 isn’t unusual. Granite tops routinely outlive the cabinets under them and get reused on the new kitchen.

Can I put hot pans directly on granite?

Yes. Granite forms under extreme heat and shrugs off a pan straight from the oven without scorching. Avoid parking a hot pan in the same spot every day, which can weaken the sealer over time, and you’ll never think about it again.

How often does granite need sealing?

Once every one to three years for most colours, less for the dense dark granites. We seal natural stone at install with a premium impregnating sealer. The water-drop test tells you when it’s due: when water stops beading on the surface, reseal.

What is the downside of granite countertops?

Three honest ones. It’s porous, so it needs the sealing above. It’s heavy, so long overhangs and big islands need proper support. And because every slab is unique, a large kitchen may need a seam where two slabs meet. We lay seams out on the template so they land where you won’t notice them.
